Day +150, Final Result

Some of you asked me to post pictures of the final result. I gladly do so in this post. I should note though that I’ve been the same for the last two months at least, so the look you see now was achieved very fast. So, here is the post with BEFORE/AFTER pictures. Flaccid…

On erect pictures I tried to pull my foreskin as far back as possible. Also, I would like to remind everyone that I am naturally strongly curved down. This has nothing to do with the tight foreskin. Overall, I am very satisfied with the result. I guess the main thing is the fact that I do not think about my foreskin anymore. Sex is back to being very enjoyable the way it was before problems with the foreskin started. I wish good luck to everyone who decided to do the procedure. Day + 90, Costs

I know that somewhere at the beginning of this blog I promised to post information about the costs of the procedure. Here is what I paid (roughly) OUT OF POCKET and I do have insurance that covered the rest (90%).

Dr. Baum’s services (including all visits) – roughly $300.

Anesthesia – $340.

Hospital charges – $850.

So we are talking about $1,500, on average.

Day +26

Today was my second, and last, post-op visit to Dr. Baum. The healing is going great. More importantly, finally I can have sex! The procedure definitely made my foreskin wider. I guess I would like it to be even more loose, but if I had had it the way it is now all the way, I would have never guessed that anything was actually wrong with me. So far, so good.

Day +12

Here is an update on my situation. The healing process, I guess, goes as planned. The sutures started dissolving. Today’s pictures look scary, and even scarier than the pictures I posted right after the procedure, but I am sure that this will pass and my penis will look prettier. I don’t have any pain and have no bleeding. I can masturbate okay.

I should say that at this point I roughly imagine what my foreskin is going to be like after it completely heals. It is definitely not as tight as it used to be. The opening is now wide enough that I can even pee without pulling the foreskin back. At the same time, I would like it to be even looser. Also, my frenulum was cut somewhat but not completely. I saw pictures of penises where it is removed entirely. I would like to have that.

Day +4

There hasn’t been much change. No pain either. No bleeding or any other problems. I believe the healing process is heading the right direction but slowly.

Spontaneous erections have not been a problem, either. I read that they are painful after circumcisions. At the same time, I feel no pain when erected.

I found conflicting information about whether warm baths are acceptable after surgery. Some say they are preferred to showers, others say they can cause bleeding. I love warm baths, so today I decided to give it a try. No bleeding, no change. I am still very careful when washing my penis, especially close to the sutures. Fortunately, I still have the special soap that I had to apply before the procedure to minimize the risk of infection. I use it.

I usually have a high sex drive, so it has been hard to last this long without an ejaculation. So, today I masturbated for the first time. Very carefully, almost without touching the sutures. The fact that I haven’t ejaculated for four days helped a lot and made the whole process quick.

Day +1, Dressing Removal

Twenty four hours passed since the procedure. The last night did not cause any major problems. On the zero-to-ten scale, my pain level went up to around three in the evening, so I decided to take my first pill of pain killers. I am not sure if that was the actual pain or discomfort caused by the fact that I had to put ice on my penis for the night. Anyway, I was asleep twenty minutes later and woke up today pain-free. I did not need any pain killers throughout the day.

Today I got to remove the dressing from the penis. It was a bit scary to do it by myself, but I was eager to see the result. I found that Dr. Baum made one dorsal incision (as planned) and cut my frenulum. Due to the single cut, I see a slight cleft at the top. At the same time, I realize that this is too early to judge the final result. The frenulum area is still bleeding somewhat but this is no more than a couple of drops an hour. Again, no pain. I urinate with no problems as well, with no change in the feeling. Here are the pictures of day 1:

Day 0, The Day of Procedure

Today was the big day — I had preputioplasty and frenulotomy done. From the time I arrived to the Center to the time I was dispatched, less than two and a half hours passed. I went through a standard routine of paperwork and pre-op procedures such as changing clothes, emptying my bladder, and IV. The procedure was done under a general anesthesia and took less than one hour. So, when I woke up everything already had happened. My penis is still covered in dressing, so there isn’t much to see. There is a hole at the top of the bandage so that I can pee. Surprisingly, peeing is not painful. I get to wear the dressing for 24 hours.

On the zero-to-ten scale for pain, I am between zero and one. I don’t even take my pain medicine. So far, there has been no need for that. Doctors instructed me to put ice on my penis every hour for 20 minutes, and then for the whole night tonight to reduce possible swelling.

Day -2

Today Dr. Baum called me with answers to my questions. He only performs preputioplasty with one dorsal incision. I guess this is my second best option because studies show that two incisions leave a slightly better cosmetic result and avoid a cleft in the foreskin on the top of the penis. I also wonder if two incisions make the foreskin wider than one incision. He gave me no reply to my question about BXO. I am still going to stick with the plan.

At the same time, I find more sources that say preputioplasty is not an option if BXO is present because the continuing inflammatory process results in recurrent stenosis of the preputial orifice. I am still going to try preputioplasty for two reasons. If I do have BXO indeed, it is of the slightest form (my penis is not nearly as scary as some penises on pictures of BXO). Also, I can always undergo circumcision if preputioplasty does not help, but not vice versa.
